Proper tables allow you to eat Southern specialties as you listen, but no one comes here for the food. Lunch and brunch are particularly kid-friendly, and the music isn't so loud that anyone will need ear plugs.Īnything else special? Although The Listening Room is Nashville's bread and butter, it can be hard to find these kind of acoustic acts, particularly close to downtown, so this feels like a real gem. Good for kids? If kids are the age where they can sit, eat, and listen to music without talking, this is a great option for families. How are the seats? Seating is around tables and sight lines are good-the stage is raised. Almost all acts play Americana or country music, with the occasional pop or novelty songs. Its large stage accommodates four writers at once, doing a round-one takes a turn playing one song, with some banter in between. The Bluebird Café is famous for this, but it sells out and remains hard to get in. This is one of the best way to experience the music scene. What can we see here? Nashville is all about songwriting, where writers acoustically perform their creations. It's no frills, but that’s the point: just the songs without backup singers or light shows. The newest iteration isn’t fancy, but it is big-both the stage and the venue-with plenty of parking and close to downtown. While consistency of address isn’t a strong suit, the quality of the singer/songwriters has remained a constant. First impressions? The Listening Room Cafe has moved three times since its founding in 2006.
